Sonia Hernández, Ph.D, Professor of History at Texas A&M University, will examine the 1901 near-lynching of Gregorio Cortez, a Mexican migrant cowboy, and the incarceration of his family as a microcosm of broader national processes involving racial formation, citizenship, state violence, and the responses to it.
